Hahoe Village, then Woryeonggyo at night

하회마을과 월영교 밤

Day course · 9 stops · Andong

Walk Hahoe Village before the afternoon mask dance and cross to Buyongdae by ferry. Stop at Byeongsan Seowon on the way back, then have heotjesabap by Woryeonggyo Bridge and walk it after the lights come on.

[From Andong Station] This plan assumes the ITX-Maeum that leaves Cheongnyangni around 06:38 and reaches Andong Station around 09:14. From the Andong Station (Andong Terminal) stop, bus 210 or Express 2 takes about an hour to Hahoe Village and runs roughly once an hour. We couldn't confirm lockers at the station or the terminal, so if your bag is big, ask your hotel whether they'll hold it first. Check train and bus times before you go. [City tour] From Tuesday to Sunday there's also a one-day bus tour to Hahoe. It meets at Andong Station around 11:25, takes in Byeongsan Seowon, the mask dance, Hahoe Village and Buyongdae, and gets back to the station around 17:50. Admission is included and the commentary is in Korean only. Book ahead on Waug and check the times before you go. After the tour, take a taxi to Woryeonggyo. [Hahoe Village] It's about 1 km from the ticket office to the village entrance, so take the free shuttle. Lunch is at the Hahoe market restaurants by the ticket office, and many serve the salted mackerel set only for two or more, so ask first if you're on your own. Last entry is 17:30 from April to September and 16:30 from October to March. Checked Oct 2026. [Mask dance] The Hahoe Byeolsingut mask dance plays at 14:00 from Tuesday to Sunday, March to December, on the open-air stage by the village entrance. There's no show on Mondays, and in January and February it's on weekends only. The seats are outdoors, so come ready for sun or cold. Check before you go. [Buyongdae] A small ferry crosses the river from the sand in front of the Mansongjeong pine grove to the foot of Buyongdae. The forest path to the top takes 5 to 10 minutes, and from there you see the whole village inside the river bend. Check ferry times, and whether it runs in winter, before you go. [Byeongsan Seowon] It's about 4 km from Hahoe with almost no buses, so go by taxi. There's no evening bus from Byeongsan to Woryeonggyo either, so carry on by taxi. In winter it closes at 17:00. Checked Oct 2026. [Kkachi Gumeong Jip] The heotjesabap place right beside Woryeonggyo Bridge. The soup and skewers have beef and fish in them, so tell them first if you're vegetarian. Eat dinner early, and check opening hours before you go. [Woryeonggyo Bridge] The lights on the bridge come on after dark. The fountain beside it runs only from April to October, and sources differ on the times. Moon Boats at Gaemok Ferry under the bridge are first come, first served, so expect a long wait at weekends, and check before you go whether they run in winter. A hotel downtown is about 10 minutes away by taxi. [If it rains] Hahoe Village and Buyongdae are all outdoor walking, on dirt lanes. In heavy rain, spend the time at the Hahoe World Mask Museum next to the ticket office. Woryeonggyo has no roof, so keep the walk short and skip the boats. [Seasons] In July and August there's little shade in the village and midday gets very hot. From late October to early November the leaves turn around the Mansongjeong pine grove and Byeongsan Seowon. During the Mask Dance Festival, from late September to early October, the road to Hahoe and the village get crowded.
