Two earlier names
From March 1984 the school was called Busan Industrial University. It took the name Kyungsung University in May 1988.
Blue, red and mustard
In the logo, blue stands for truth and the sea of information, and red for freedom and the K of Kyungsung. Mustard stands for service and tradition and the U of University. The cross shape stands for the founding ideals.
The first overseas partner
Kyungsung's first international exchange agreement was signed in February 1980 with the Chinese Culture University in Taiwan.

Take Line 2 to Gwangan Station and use exit 3. Gwangan Bridge sits straight ahead, and the area is dense with cafes and pubs. Thursday Party Gwangalli has a beachfront terrace that looks out at Gwangan Bridge. Nights here and in Haeundae are mostly pubs and bars, and clubs are few.

A-CHA's favorite view in Busan. Several lookouts are within a short walk, and it's prettiest from sunset into the night. Hazy or foggy days hide the view.

Close to Seomyeon, so it fits a slow arrival or departure day and works well in bad weather. Lotte Department Store's Busan main branch nearby has London Bagel Museum on B1 (opened June 2026). Exit 7 of Jeonpo Station.

Igidae Coastal Trail
A 4.7 km cliffside path between Dongsaengmal and Oryukdo, about 2.5 hours one way, with Gwangan Bridge and Marine City across the water. You can start at either end, and both are a short bus ride from Kyungsung Univ.·Pukyong Nat'l Univ. Stn on Line 2. Much of it is stairs and wooden decks, so wear sneakers and bring a snack. It closes in high waves and typhoons.

Your home university nominates you, then you send the application by email. You don't post anything. Kyungsung hasn't put out spring 2027 dates yet. For spring 2025 both deadlines were 29 November, and for autumn 2026 they were 29 May.
English Track classes are taught in English. Every other class is in Korean, and for those you need TOPIK level 5 or the same level of Korean. You choose one department on the form.
Apply for your visa within 7 to 10 days of getting the certificate of admission. If you don't have it before the semester starts, or don't arrive within 2 to 3 weeks of the start, Kyungsung cancels your place.
Kyungsung says every international student needs student insurance and National Health Insurance. NHI starts once you register for your residence card, at about ₩70,000 to 80,000 a month.
In spring 2025 Kyungsung asked students to arrive on 1 or 2 March, with orientation on the first day of the semester. You get the dates for your semester from the International Office.

- When
- Register within 90 days of arriving. If you don't, you can be fined.
- What to bring
- The form, your passport, a 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo, an enrolment or tuition certificate and proof of where you live, such as a dorm certificate.
- Immigration office
- Busan Immigration Office, 146 Jungang-daero, Jung-gu. It's open on weekdays from 9:00 to 18:00, closed 12:00 to 13:00.
- Fee
- The government fee for the card is ₩35,000.
- Staying longer
- Apply to extend from four months before your stay ends. An extension costs ₩60,000.
- Trips abroad
- Don't travel to other countries until your card is out. A single-entry visa works only once, so leaving early can stop you from coming back on it.
- Changes
- Report a new address within 15 days of moving, at your local community centre or at immigration. Report a new passport to immigration within 15 days as well. Both are free.
- Immigration helpline
- Call 1345 with visa or residence card questions. It answers in English and other languages on weekdays from 9:00 to 22:00. From abroad, dial +82-2-1345.

- Kyungsung puts a campus meal at ₩5,000 and up, and a meal outside at ₩7,000 to 12,000.
- Cafeteria
- The cafeteria in Building 28 opens every day, for lunch from 11:00 to 13:30 and dinner from 17:00 to 18:30. At weekends it serves lunch only.

- The Global College teaches Global Business Administration, Global Hospitality Management, Global Mechanical Design Engineering and Global IT Engineering in English.
- Semester
- In 2026 spring classes started on 3 March and finals ran from 16 to 22 June. Autumn started on 1 September and finals end on 21 December.
- Korean classes
- The Language Education Center runs a Korean course outside your regular classes. Exchange students who want it pay ₩600,000 on top.
