How the name changed
The school became Daejeon College in 1959, Soongjun College in 1971 and Hannam College in 1982. Hannam College received university status in 1985.
Linton Memorial Park
Linton Memorial Park opened in 2006, the school's 50th anniversary year. A statue of William A. Linton was unveiled in 2011.
Linton Global College
Hannam says Linton is a branch of the university where all classes are taught in English, and the first programme of its kind in Korea.

- Airport buses to Daejeon leave from stop 9D on the first floor and take about 3 hours to the Daejeon terminals, which are close to Hannam.

Apply through the international office at your home university, for one semester or a year. Hannam's exchange pages don't list deadlines, so ask your home office for them.
You pay tuition to your home university, and Hannam waives its own tuition and application fee. Housing, meals and books are yours to pay, unless your two universities have a separate agreement covering room and board.
Once Hannam sends your certificate of admission, apply for a student visa (D-2) at the Korean embassy or consulate where you live.
Your passport and bedding. Hannam's dorm doesn't provide a duvet or personal items, and a duvet costs about ₩50,000 here.
In autumn 2026 the exchange student orientation was on 28 August at Moore Art Hall, a few days before classes. You hand in your residence card form the same day.
Once your residence card is out, your buddy goes with you to KB Kookmin Bank on the second floor of building 56. Bring your passport, residence card and an enrolment certificate.
National Health Insurance starts once you register. The bill comes to your dorm mailbox around the 15th of each month and is due by the end of the month.
Hannam runs a two-day field trip for exchange and international students, with group travel, a shared room and most meals covered.

Residence card
Register within 90 days of arriving.
Your Korean buddy helps you fill in the form after you arrive. Hannam collects it at orientation.
You need the card to open a phone contract in your own name, open a bank account and sign up for most Korean apps.

- Documents
- The application form, a passport copy, one photo with a white background, taken in the last six months, proof of address and the ₩35,000 fee. Dorm residents hand in a housing confirmation instead of a lease.
- How long
- Hannam's autumn 2026 orientation said about a month and a half to two months.
- Student card
- After you open a bank account, make your student card at the Academic Affairs team on the first floor of building 8.
- Changes
- Report a new address within 15 days of moving, at your local community centre or at immigration. Report a new passport to immigration within 15 days as well. Both are free.
- Trips abroad
- Don't travel to other countries until your card is out. A single-entry visa works only once, so leaving early can stop you from coming back on it.
- Immigration helpline
- Call 1345 with visa or residence card questions. It answers in English and other languages on weekdays from 9:00 to 22:00. From abroad, dial +82-2-1345.

Sibley House

- Rooms
- Rooms for three. Sibley House 1 is for men at ₩590,000, Sibley House 2 for women at ₩700,000. The dorm office assigns rooms.
- Deposit
- A ₩20,000 key deposit in cash when you move in, refunded when you leave. Bedding from Hannam is ₩50,000 if you want it.
- Kitchen
- No cooking in the dorm, and nothing that could start a fire, such as heaters or burners.
- Curfew
- You can't go out between 23:00 and 5:00, and there's a roll call at 23:00.
- Nights away
- On weekdays ask the dorm supervisor the same day. On weekends sign the log book.
- Rules
- No drinking, smoking or gambling, and no overnight guests.
Before you apply
- Pay at the bank. You get your own account number. Pay at the KB Kookmin Bank machine on the second floor of building 56, late September to early October for autumn and late March to early April for spring, then email the receipt to your coordinator.
