It moved to Samseong-dong, Daejeon in 1935. It became a four-year institution in 1984 and took the name Hanbat National University in 2001.

Yuseong, Daedeok and Sejong
Hanbat became a general university in March 2012. Its main campus is Yuseong, in use since 1998. It also has Daedeok (since 2009) and a leased Sejong campus (since 2024).
A ribbon for 100 years
For its 100th anniversary Hanbat made an emblem that joins the school symbol, the number 100 and a Möbius strip in a ribbon shape. The school says it shows pride in the past century.
What Hanbat means
Hanbat is an old Korean name for the Daejeon area and means a big field. Many places in the city use it.

- From Incheon Airport
- Take airport bus 6004 to Gwangmyeong Station and the KTX to Daejeon Station, about 1 hour 30 minutes. Or take the limousine bus to Daejeon Bus Terminal or the Dunsan stop, about 2 hours 40 minutes.
- From Daejeon Station
- Subway Line 1 to National Cemetery Station, then bus 102, 103, 104, 113 or 11 to the Hanbat National University stop, about 50 minutes. A taxi is about 33 minutes and ₩15,500.
- From Yuseong Bus Terminal
- A taxi takes about 10 minutes and costs about ₩5,100. Buses 102 and 113 take about 30 minutes.

After you arrive
Residence card
You need the card to open a phone contract in your own name, open a bank account and sign up for most Korean apps.

- Fee
- The government fee for the card is ₩35,000.
- Trips abroad
- Don't travel to other countries until your card is out. A single-entry visa works only once, so leaving early can stop you from coming back on it.
- Changes
- Report a new address within 15 days of moving, at your local community centre or at immigration. Report a new passport to immigration within 15 days as well. Both are free.
- Immigration helpline
- Call 1345 with visa or residence card questions. It answers in English and other languages on weekdays from 9:00 to 22:00. From abroad, dial +82-2-1345.

Housing
International students come second in the dorm queue, after the priority groups. You apply online on the dorm site.
- BTL Dormitory I
- 300 rooms in Sonamu (men) and Mongnyeonhwa (women), with a cafeteria, shared fridges, a convenience store, a gym, a study room and laundry.
- BTL Dormitory III
- 398 rooms in Injae (men) and Mirae (women), with a shared kitchen, a cafe, a gym, a study room and laundry.
- Rooms and meals
- Rooms are for two. The dorm cafeteria serves breakfast, lunch and dinner during the semester.
- Laundry
- ₩1,000 to wash and ₩1,000 to dry.
- House rules
- You lose your room for smoking or drinking in the building, entering the other gender's building, staying over without permission, theft, setting a fire or violence.
