For Spring 2027. The emails from the school come first. Use this list to check nothing is missing. Ticks stay in this browser only.

  1. Your home university nominates you by 30 October 2026. Dankook then emails you a link, and you apply online by 15 November 2026.

  2. Full-time study, at least one semester done at your home university, a GPA of 2.0 out of 4.5 or the same, and good enough English or Korean.

  3. Passport copy, transcripts, a study plan, a pledge and a photo. Students from outside the OECD also send a certificate of enrolment and a bank statement.

  4. Decisions usually come within 6 weeks of the deadline. The acceptance package, with the letter and the certificate of admission for your visa, goes out in mid-December for spring.

  5. Take the package to your nearest Korean embassy or consulate yourself, as early as you can. Dankook can't promise the visa.

  6. Buy insurance at home that covers sickness, accidents and death, and send the certificate before you come. You are also signed up for National Health Insurance on the day you register for your residence card, and Dankook puts it at about ₩70,000 a month. If your own policy has unlimited cover, you can ask for an exemption after you register.

  7. If you live in the dorm, bring a tuberculosis test from the same year you move in, by X-ray, skin or blood. For spring you send a scan in February.

  8. Tuition is waived. Dankook lists ₩65,000 for registering at the university and for the residence card, about ₩700,000 a month for food and personal costs, and about ₩100,000 for books.

  9. Arrive and move in on 23 or 24 February 2027. Orientation on 25 and 26 February is mandatory, and classes start on 3 March. Dankook names one arrival day with an airport pickup and asks you to come that day.

After you arrive

Residence card

You need the card to open a phone contract in your own name, open a bank account and sign up for most Korean apps.

Booking the immigration visit. Papers, fee and HiKorea screens step by step. Read the guide

Health insurance
National Health Insurance starts on the day you register for your card, so for spring it usually starts in April.
Fee
The government fee for the card is ₩35,000.
Trips abroad
Don't travel to other countries until your card is out. A single-entry visa works only once, so leaving early can stop you from coming back on it.
Changes
Report a new address within 15 days of moving, at your local community centre or at immigration. Report a new passport to immigration within 15 days as well. Both are free.
Immigration helpline
Call 1345 with visa or residence card questions. It answers in English and other languages on weekdays from 9:00 to 22:00. From abroad, dial +82-2-1345.
