Yangdong Village
양동마을
Day course · 2 stops · Gyeongju
Walk Yangdong, an old clan village that is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Back in town, pick up Hwangnam bread before you leave.
[Getting to Yangdong] City buses don't come often, so settle on your return bus before you go in. There's not much to eat in the village, so have a meal in town first. [Yangdong Village] Plan on about two hours of hills and dirt paths. On Mondays only the Yangdong Culture Hall closes, and the village stays open. [Departure day] Leave town an hour before your train. Bus 50 or 51 takes about 15 to 20 minutes to Gyeongju Station, plus the wait, so check bus times before you go. If you're buying Hwangnam bread, expect a line on weekends. [If it rains] The paths are dirt and hilly, and they get slippery in the rain. On a very wet day, go to the Gyeongju National Museum instead.
