Tombs, Hwangnidan-gil and Wolji at night
대릉원·황리단길과 월지 야경
Day course · 9 stops · Gyeongju
Ssambap for lunch, then the tomb park and Hwangnidan-gil. Head to Wolji Pond at dusk and finish at Cheomseongdae and Woljeonggyo Bridge, lit up after dark.
[From Gyeongju Station] Gyeongju Station (formerly Singyeongju) is a long way from the center. Bus 50 or 51 takes about 15 to 20 minutes to the downtown bus terminal, and a taxi about 20 to 30 minutes. Check bus times before you go, and ask your hotel whether they'll hold your bags before check-in. [Daereungwon] Cheonmachong is inside the park, and you can walk into the tomb itself. Don't climb the mounds. [Hwangnidan-gil] It's busiest at midday on weekends. Skip the shops with long lines and just walk the lanes. [Flower fields] Tulips and canola bloom in April, and pink muhly covers the field from mid-September to late October. From November to March the beds are often bare. [Night views] Go into Wolji Pond about 30 minutes before sunset to watch the lights come on. The lights at Wolji and Woljeonggyo stay on until 22:00. Checked Oct 2026. [Hanbok] Rentals usually run two to three hours, enough for photos at Daereungwon and Cheomseongdae. Prices and hours vary by shop. [If it rains] Cheonmachong is inside a tomb, so rain doesn't matter there. In heavy rain, move on to the Gyeongju National Museum. [Seasons] In early April the cherry blossom festival on the Daereungwon stone wall road closes some streets to cars. There's almost no shade at midday in July and August. From October to February the sun sets early, so see the lights first and eat after.
