Busan's Old Downtown: Hill Village to Sea Cliffs in a Day

Huinnyeoul's coastal walk is under slope-repair works but partly open — per the Yeongdo district (Jul 2026), 524m of the 860m trail is open; the blocked ~340m is the Isongdo/coastal-tunnel end, and those sections open and close by construction phase, so don't assume either way (full reopening in stages to late 2028). Call the district office (051-419-4692) that morning; if closed, walk the clifftop lanes and Isongdo viewpoint instead (30-40 min) and give the saved hour to Yongdusan. Gamcheon village is free and always open, but the 2,000-won stamp map is sold only at the info center (Mar-Oct 09:00-18:00, Nov-Feb to 17:00); the exhibit houses close Mondays and the Haneulmaru viewpoint at 16:00 — do stamps in the morning, not Monday; most shops shut around 18:00. Gamcheon's residential lanes are a special management zone (Aug 2026): entry restricted after 18:00 (enforced Jan 2027) — it's a daytime neighborhood; no drones. Jagalchi market rests 1st/3rd/5th Tuesdays — move lunch to Gukje Market's daytime shops or Nampo-dong (the Kkangtong night market is 19:30-23:30, no lunch substitute). Gukje Market runs 09:00-20:00, closed every Sunday — on Sundays do BIFF Square and Nampo-dong instead; pass through in the afternoon. Busan Tower: daily 10:00-22:00, tickets to 21:30, 12,000 won. Bus from Nampo to Huinnyeoul takes 20-30 min in bridge traffic — budget 20 extra minutes in the evening. Last KTX to Seoul leaves Busan Station 22:10 (Seoul 00:42) — leave Nampo by 21:30. These are lived-in neighborhoods: keep voices down, don't photograph homes or laundry. At Jagalchi's raw-fish floor confirm per-kg price plus table charge before ordering; keep 20,000 won cash for stalls. From 1 Sep 2026 the KTX-SRT merger revises timetables and cuts high-speed fares ~10% — recheck the day's last train in the Korail+ app.
